What is or isn’t an herb? Some plants are obviously herbs – but others are not so apparent. Here is a common (but not the only) definition of what is an herb: “any plant with leaves, seeds, or flowers used for flavoring, food, medicine, or perfume”.
So it would seem that what defines an herb, by this definition at least, is more about its end-use rather than its botanical make-up. When discussing “Herbs for Health” we are showcasing plants that offer a medicinal benefit; to mind, body or both.
If you love using herbs for your health and wellbeing, why not grow them in your own backyard? There is nothing nicer than having fresh herbs ready to pick when a health problem arises or when you want to add fresh herbs to a special dish.
And if you use them regularly, health problems are less likely to arise in the first place!
